Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, secure, and optimize critical database environments within the banking sector. The role will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance, security, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity of enterprise databases.
Key Responsibilities Administer and support enterprise databases in a 24/7 banking environment. * Manage database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations. * Monitor database performance, capacity, availability, and health. * Perform performance tuning and troubleshoot complex database issues. * Design and maintain backup, recovery, high-availability, and disaster recovery solutions. * Manage database replication, clustering, and failover environments. * Implement database security, access controls, encryption, and auditing in line with banking and regulatory requirements. * Support database environments for critical banking applications and integrations. * Perform regular backup validation and participate in DR drills and business continuity exercises*. * Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for database incidents and implement permanent solutions. * Work closely with Application, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and IT Operations teams. * Maintain database documentation, standards, procedures, and operational runbooks. * Participate in change management, incident management, and technical projects.
Technical Requirements Strong hands-on experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server databases. * Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, SQL Server Always On, or equivalent high-availability technologies. * Strong knowledge of database backup and recovery tools. * Experience with database performance tuning and troubleshooting. * Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments. * Experience with database replication, clustering, and disaster recovery. * Strong understanding of SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and database architecture*. * Experience with database monitoring and management tools. * Knowledge of database security, encryption, auditing, and privileged access controls. * Experience with cloud database technologies is an advantage.
Banking & Security Experience Experience supporting banking, financial services, payment systems, or other highly regulated environments. * Good understanding of data security, confidentiality, access management, and regulatory compliance. * Experience working with PCI DSS, ISO 27001*, and banking security/control requirements is an advantage. * Ability to work within strict change, incident, risk, and business continuity management processes.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. * 7+ years of relevant database administration experience, preferably within banking or financial services. * Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft SQL Server certification, or equivalent are an advantage. * Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills. * Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call or production support* when required.
