About M-Pay
M-Pay provides cross-border payment services to businesses through dedicated virtual IBANs and fiat-to-stablecoin payment rails. Our compliance team supports responsible growth by applying clear, risk-based controls to business onboarding and ongoing account activity.
The role
M-Pay is looking for a Senior Compliance Officer with strong KYC and KYB experience to support and strengthen its business customer due diligence program. You will review complex business and individual customer files, assess ownership and control structures, make risk-based onboarding recommendations, and help ensure that ongoing due diligence and escalations are handled consistently.
You will work closely with Relationship Management, Business Development, Operations, and the designated compliance leadership. The role requires sound independent judgment, careful documentation, and the ability to explain compliance requirements in a practical way. Responsibilities will be carried out in line with M-Pay’s policies and the requirements applicable in the jurisdictions where it operates.
What you’ll do
• Conduct and quality-review risk-based KYC and KYB due diligence for prospective and existing business clients.
• Verify legal entity information, business activity, directors, authorized representatives, ownership and control, and ultimate beneficial owners.
• Assess customer risk using relevant factors such as geography, products, payment corridors, expected activity, ownership complexity, and source of funds or wealth where required.
• Review and resolve identity, sanctions, politically exposed person (PEP), and adverse-media screening results; document rationale and escalate potential matches.
• Apply enhanced due diligence where indicated, including gathering and assessing additional information and evidence.
• Review periodic refreshes and trigger-based reviews, ensuring files remain complete and risk ratings are current.
• Assess onboarding and ongoing activity concerns, unusual patterns, or potential policy breaches; escalate alerts to the designated compliance lead or MLRO in line with internal procedures.
• Maintain clear, audit-ready case records, decisions, evidence, and escalation notes.
• Support quality assurance, management information, compliance reporting, internal audits, and remediation of identified gaps.
• Help maintain and improve KYC/KYB procedures, checklists, training materials, and operational controls as products and risks evolve.
• Advise commercial and operations colleagues on due diligence requirements while preserving independent compliance decision-making.
• Keep current with relevant financial crime risks, regulatory developments, and good practice affecting the business and its markets.
What you’ll bring
• 4–6 years of relevant compliance or financial crime experience in payments, fintech, banking, money services, foreign exchange, or a related regulated financial services environment.
• At least 4 years’ hands-on experience conducting or reviewing KYC and KYB due diligence for business customers.
• Strong working knowledge of risk-based customer due diligence, beneficial ownership, PEP and sanctions screening, adverse media, and enhanced due diligence.
• Experience assessing complex entity structures and documenting clear, evidence-based risk decisions.
• Familiarity with transaction monitoring or payment activity reviews and established escalation processes.
• Strong written communication, investigative judgment, attention to detail, and confidence in raising concerns.
• Experience supporting audits, quality reviews, policy updates, or compliance reporting.
• Ability to work constructively with commercial and operational teams while maintaining appropriate independence.
• Relevant compliance qualifications are an advantage; equivalent practical experience is welcome.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
