Position Summary:
Beirut Arab University is looking for a qualified and experienced Specialist - Doctor of Physical Therapy to join its Physical Therapy Outpatient Clinic. The Physical Therapy Outpatient Clinic provides comprehensive patient care while supporting academic training and research activities. The position is responsible for providing evidence-based rehabilitation services, supervising and training physical therapy students, coordinating clinical training activities, and supporting the effective operation of the clinic and laboratory. The clinic serves diverse patient populations, including students, staff, and the community, while contributing to research initiatives, interdisciplinary collaboration, regulatory compliance, and health and wellness programs.
Main Duties:
- Patient Care: Assess, treat, and monitor patients while providing education on rehabilitation and prevention.
- Student Training: Supervise and train physical therapy students through clinical rotations and hands-on learning.
- Administration & Laboratory Management: Support clinic and laboratory operations, maintain equipment and supplies, ensure compliance with safety and accreditation requirements, and support academic and clinical training activities.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree.
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Good command of English.
- Maintain knowledge of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in physical therapy practice.

- Contact the CCCT, CTF, or DCT regarding any urgent issue arising throughout the clinical training course.
- Promote the use of evidence-based practice and encourage students to apply critical inquiry effectively.
- Collaborate with students to plan learning experiences within their scope of knowledge and skills.
- Comply with the performance assessment and evaluation requirements established by the physical therapist professional entry-level education program.
- Evaluate student performance primarily through direct observation at the clinical site; feedback from team members and patients may also contribute to the evaluation.
- Ensure that appropriate consent has been obtained from patients/clients before treatment or management.
- Read all materials related to the physical therapy program and seek clarification when necessary.
- Provide mentoring and supervision throughout the clinical experience, with or without direct observation.
- Provide effective and timely feedback regarding student performance.
- Make time available to discuss patient management with students.
- Ensure students adhere to the ethical and legal aspects of practice.
- Demonstrate cultural competence.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional development as an inherent part of the role of the clinical training site instructor.
- Ensure the provision of appropriate clinical practice opportunities for students.
- Enhance knowledge and skills in providing student clinical training experiences, including program planning, implementation, and evaluation, through continuing education.
- Submit all forms and evaluations requested by the program according to the Student’s Portfolio.
- Authenticate the daily presence of students on the Training Sheet in the Student’s Portfolio.
- Collaborate with the CTF to complete the Evaluation of Clinical Training Form (Appendix II) for each student at both the intermediate and final stages of the clinical training experience.
- Ensure that students complete a detailed case report by the assigned date according to the relevant course specifications and the department’s Case Report Submission Guidelines.
- Request a site visit from the DCT through the CCCT, CTF, or DCT when a student experiences difficulties or demonstrates performance problems.
- Authenticate and sign all relevant sections of the Student’s Portfolio.
II. As Central Coordinator of Clinical Training:

- Participate in physical therapist entry-level curriculum development.
- Demonstrate an understanding of contemporary practice, quality clinical education, the clinical community, and the healthcare delivery system.
- Ensure that clinical practice experiences encompass the management of patients/clients with a range of conditions, including musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular/pulmonary, and integumentary conditions, across the lifespan and continuum of care.
- Ensure that clinical practice experiences provide opportunities for interdisciplinary practice.
- Provide students with information about the clinical site in preparation for their clinical placement.
- Communicate effectively with students, CI, CTF, and DCT.
- Provide clinical training guidelines outlining the competencies that physical therapy students are expected to meet during their clinical placement.
- Provide appropriate feedback to students throughout the clinical placement.
- Communicate the assessment processes required during and at the end of the clinical training experience.
- Distribute all forms and information received from the DCT to the student, CI, and CTF.
- Collect the Student’s Portfolio from students on the assigned date specified in the Course Specifications of the clinical course.
- Visit the training site when requested by the DCT.
- Authenticate and sign the relevant sections of the Student’s Portfolio and forward them to the CTF.
III. Laboratory Management:
- Be responsible for safety and accreditation requirements in the laboratory and perform related duties as required.
- Oversee the daily activities of the laboratory.
- Report to and coordinate with the Head of Department.
- Assist faculty with academic matters.
- Develop schedules for laboratory services and review and modify them as needed.
- Monitor laboratory work performance, review monthly laboratory activities, establish laboratory performance standards, analyze situations accurately, and take appropriate action.
- Stay informed about new laboratory equipment, technology, and trends; assess and recommend vendors for materials and services used by the laboratory; evaluate methodologies for laboratory use and report findings.
- Manage written and computerized records, reports, and correspondence related to the department; ensure the maintenance of records and files; analyze data and present information both orally and in writing.
- Document deficiencies, develop improvement plans, and provide appropriate counseling.
- Ensure the maintenance of all supplies and report any damage or misuse.
- Maintain an archive of all documents, laboratory activities, and student evaluations.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty members, administrators, and managers across different university divisions; attend meetings and provide relevant information.
- Gain and maintain the confidence and cooperation of individuals contacted in the course of work.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, respond to grievances, and address issues promptly and effectively.
- Be accountable for laboratory operations, including responding to emergencies and attending meetings outside the laboratory and department as needed.
- Pursue continuous professional development by attending educational courses, workshops, and research activities.
- Support faculty administration with correspondence and related administrative tasks.
- Coordinate quizzes and midterm examinations.
