Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Freelance Parametric Designer. The person in this role will develop and refine parametric models for consumer products using digital design tools and scripting or visual programming workflows. Responsibilities include translating product requirements into scalable, adaptable design systems, iterating on prototypes based on feedback, and preparing design files and documentation for manufacturing or further engineering review. The Freelance Parametric Designer will collaborate with product designers, engineers, and other stakeholders, participate in online design reviews, and maintain organized, version-controlled design assets. The role also involves troubleshooting design constraints, optimizing models for material efficiency, and ensuring that designs align with brand and usability standards.
Qualifications
* Strong parametric design capabilities, including experience with CAD or computational design tools (e.g., Rhino/Grasshopper, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar).
* Proficiency in digital modeling and 3D visualization, with the ability to create clean, manufacturable geometry suitable for consumer products.
* Understanding of product design principles, materials, and basic manufacturing processes relevant to consumer goods.
* Ability to document design logic, prepare clear specifications, and share organized source files for cross-functional teams.
* Effective remote collaboration skills, including clear written communication, responsiveness, and experience working with distributed teams.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking, with attention to detail and commitment to high-quality output.
* Relevant education or training in industrial design, product design, architecture, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
* Experience managing freelance projects, meeting deadlines, and handling multiple design tasks in parallel.
