Job Purpose:
A leading aerospace and propulsion technology company is seeking an Instrumentation & Test Engineer to define, prepare, execute, and analyze test plans for turbofan products, systems, modules, and components. This role will define and manage the measurement chain for turbofan engine and component testing, ensuring accurate and reliable measurement of all engine parameters with appropriate redundancy, and transforming real phenomena into traceable, calibrated, and certifiable data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define test objectives, procedures, and instrumentation; manage test execution and safety
- Analyze results and issue test reports and compliance statements
- Oversee the planning and execution of test campaigns (component rigs, module and core engine tests, endurance and certification tests, altitude test, environmental and ingestion tests), including instrumentation plans for data acquisition and selection of sensors
- Define instrumentation plan and select sensors and placement according to test objectives and means
- Manage calibration and uncertainty analysis
- Interface with Advanced Technology department and test cell engineers and operators, as well as customers and partners
- Organize the data acquisition architecture
- Participate in results analysis and issue test reports to meet compliance requirements
- Support engine test cell definition and ground test infrastructure, and propose adaptations where needed to fit product management line expectations
- Validate data-processing methodologies and approve test reports used for design/performance/certification validation while ensuring traceability and consistency with SEMP, V&V plan, and compliance matrix (data acceptability justification, witness test support, etc.)
- Ensure compliance for test operations: safety, risk assessment, readiness reviews
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of experience in engine testing within turbofan propulsion, or other similar complex engineered systems
- Proven experience in instrumentation and test cell facilities for components, modules and engines from planning to analysis: physical measurement, instrumentation, instrument lifecycle management, harsh-environment instrumentation (very high temperature, severe vibration, fire-exposed environment, EMI/EMC constraints), data acquisition and validation, metrology, test procedures, safety test reviews, test results correlation
