We are seeking an experienced Head Accountant to provide leadership across accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, controls, and financial processes while supporting management with accurate and timely financial information.
The RoleAs a Head Accountant, you will oversee core accounting activities and help ensure financial records, reporting processes, and accounting controls are maintained to a high professional standard. You will work closely with management and internal stakeholders to monitor financial performance, resolve accounting matters, and improve the efficiency of financial operations.
This fully remote, part-time position is suited to an organized and experienced accounting professional with strong technical knowledge, leadership capabilities, and a high level of attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- * Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial record-keeping activities.
- Lead the preparation and review of periodic financial statements and management reports.
- Review general ledger entries, reconciliations, invoices, expenses, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting closing activities.
- Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash transactions, and other accounting functions.
- Maintain effective accounting controls and identify potential financial or process risks.
- Coordinate with management, auditors, external advisors, and relevant internal stakeholders.
- Investigate accounting discrepancies and ensure issues are resolved accurately and promptly.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting activities.
- Recommend improvements to accounting procedures, reporting processes, and financial controls.
Requirements
- * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
- 3+ years of professional experience in accounting, financial reporting, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, general ledger processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense management, and cash management.
- Familiarity with financial controls, audit processes, budgeting, and management reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting systems, spreadsheets, and financial reporting tools.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to review complex financial information and identify discrepancies or potential issues.
- Strong communication, organization, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple accounting priorities remotely.
