Role Description The Generator Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Kuwait. The role involves performing routine and corrective maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting of diesel and gas generators and associated electrical and mechanical systems. The Generator Technician will diagnose faults, replace and repair parts, conduct testing and performance checks, and ensure generators operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards and QHSE requirements. The role includes maintaining accurate service records, coordinating with engineering and operations teams, supporting commissioning activities for new power generation projects, and responding to breakdowns or emergency calls as needed. The technician will also assist in implementing preventive maintenance schedules and continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel and gas generators, including engines, alternators, control panels, and auxiliary systems.
- Strong skills in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, including reading schematics, using diagnostic tools, and performing wiring, calibration, and component replacement.
- Knowledge of power generation systems, load management, and integration with site infrastructure, preferably within Oil & Gas or heavy industrial environments.
- Understanding of QHSE standards and safe work practices, with experience following lockout/tagout, hazard identification, and risk control procedures.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals and engineering documentation, and to maintain clear maintenance logs and service reports.
- Relevant technical diploma or certification in electrical, mechanical, or electro-mechanical engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
- Previous experience as a generator technician or in a similar maintenance role in industrial or energy sectors is highly advantageous.
- Ability to work on-site, respond to field calls, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Basic computer skills for using maintenance management systems and reporting tools; English communication skills suitable for technical documentation and team coordination.
