We are building an enterprise AI platform in which AI agents operate business applications through their user interface, the way a person does. It runs inside customers' own environments, including on-premises and air-gapped sites. We are a small, senior team working in two-week sprints towards a first production release in December 2026.
We are hiring our first Frontend Design Engineer: an engineer with a strong eye for design who owns how the product looks, feels, and behaves. You will set the frontend foundations, meaning the design system, frontend architecture, and UI standards. You will design and build the interfaces people use to teach, supervise, and trust AI agents.
What you will do
- Build and own the design system in Storybook: design tokens, theming, documented components, visual states, and accessibility checks.
- Turn product ideas into usable interfaces: sketch, prototype, and iterate quickly in code and in Figma.
- Design and build AI-native UI patterns:
- live agent progress and step-by-step views of agent runs
- tool-call and approval flows
- error, retry, and human hand-over states
- Design data-dense operational screens, such as review queues, audit trails, permission management, and monitoring dashboards, that stay clear and calm.
- Build the main application screens in React and TypeScript, together with the Full-stack Engineer.
- Set frontend tooling and standards: build (Vite or similar), linting, unit, component, and end-to-end tests, and visual regression testing.
- Make sure the product is accessible (WCAG 2.1 AA), performs well (Core Web Vitals), and works in English and Arabic (RTL).
What we are looking for
Must have
- 10+ years of professional software engineering, with a strong focus on frontend development and UI design.
- A portfolio or examples showing strong visual and interaction design skills in shipped products.
- Strong React skills (hooks, composition, performance tuning) and TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining design systems and component libraries with Storybook (stories, controls, docs, interaction and visual tests).
- Excellent modern CSS (CSS Modules, Tailwind, or CSS-in-JS), layout, responsive design, and motion.
- Fluency in Figma and in working with, or as, a product designer.
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards and semantic HTML.
- A track record of technical leadership: owning architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and raising engineering standards across a team.
Nice to have
- Experience designing agent, workflow, or streaming UIs (SSE, WebSockets).
- Design tokens and theming at scale (e.g. Style Dictionary), or publishing a design system as a package.
- Visualising graphs, timelines, or state machines (e.g. React Flow, D3).
- Visual regression tooling (Chromatic, Playwright snapshots).
- GraphQL clients (Apollo, urql, Relay).
- Bilingual or RTL (Arabic) UI experience.
What we will assess
- Portfolio review: walk us through interfaces you designed and built, and the decisions behind them.
- Technical exercise: design and build a small React feature with Storybook stories and tests.
- Design deep-dive: make an AI agent's actions understandable and controllable for a non-technical user.
- Collaboration: working with product, backend, and AI engineers in a small team.
Why join
- Founding role with full ownership of the design system and the product's look and feel.
- Solve hard UX problems: making autonomous AI agents understandable, controllable, and trustworthy for enterprise and government users.
