Introduction to the position
Our client is a Swedish public company preparing for a Nasdaq listing in the US, operating within the healthcare technology sector. Based in Malmö, Sweden, the organisation is looking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead its finance function and work closely with the CEO, Board and Audit Committee.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership position with significant responsibility across group finance, IFRS reporting, Swedish statutory accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management, financial controls, audit and investor relations. A key priority during the first 12–24 months will be supporting the organisation through its US listing preparation and establishing the reporting, governance and control framework required as the business enters the US capital markets.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the Group finance function, including accounting, reporting, consolidation, treasury and financial controls
- Own group financial reporting under IFRS and Swedish statutory reporting requirements
- Lead quarterly and annual reporting processes and ensure accurate, timely and compliant financial disclosures
- Manage the relationship with external auditors, legal advisers, tax advisers and other external finance partners
- Develop and maintain robust internal controls and financial processes appropriate for a listed company
- Support preparation for the US Nasdaq listing, including SEC reporting and SOX-related requirements
- Prepare monthly management reporting, budgets, forecasts, KPIs and cash-flow analysis
- Provide the CEO, Board and Audit Committee with financial analysis, business insights and decision support
- Take responsibility for cash management, liquidity planning and banking relationships
- Support investor relations activities, including investor meetings, earnings communications and financial presentations
- Contribute to capital raising and other financing activities
- Establish and improve finance policies, procedures, closing processes and governance frameworks
- Lead, develop and build the finance team as the organisation continues to grow
- Take a hands-on approach to finance activities within a lean and developing finance organisation
Desired Qualifications
- 10+ years of relevant finance and accounting experience
- Experience progressing into a senior finance position such as CFO, Group Financial Controller, Head of Accounting or Head of Financial Reporting
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, including group consolidation and complex accounting judgements
- Strong understanding of Swedish GAAP, ÅRL, RFR 2 and K3
- Experience producing statutory accounts, management reporting and published quarterly/annual reports
- Background in a major audit firm and/or significant experience within a listed-company finance environment
- Experience with US/SEC reporting, Nasdaq listing processes or SOX 302/404 would be highly advantageous
- Experience working with financial controls, governance, risk and compliance in a listed or regulated environment
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to translate financial information into business decisions
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Fluent Swedish is required, particularly for Swedish statutory reporting, authorities and communication with local stakeholders
- Experience with Fortnox would be advantageous
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment and building processes and structures from the ground up
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with senior management, Board members, auditors and investors
- High levels of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to operate effectively under demanding reporting and listing deadlines
The position is permanent and full-time, based in Malmö, Sweden. The salary range for this position is SEK 60,000–90,000 per month, depending on experience. My client may be open to slightly higher salary expectations based on the candidate's experience.
