We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting and advisory team.
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate client accounting records, performing monthly close procedures, preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and supporting our CFO and tax teams.
This position requires strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client accounts and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform monthly bookkeeping and accounting for assigned clients.
- Review and categorize bank and credit card transactions.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and post adjusting journal entries.
- Review Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
- Reconcile payroll records and payroll-related accounts.
- Maintain fixed-asset schedules and record depreciation.
- Reconcile loans, credit cards, owner contributions, distributions, and equity accounts.
- Perform monthly and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements, including:
- Profit & Loss Statement
- Balance Sheet
- Cash Flow Statement
- Identify unusual transactions, accounting discrepancies, and missing documentation.
- Communicate with clients regarding missing information and accounting questions.
- Prepare accounting schedules and supporting documentation for the tax team.
- Assist CFO/advisory team with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Maintain complete and organized client workpapers.
- Ensure assigned client accounts are completed according to internal deadlines and quality standards.
- Assist with 1099 preparation and other accounting compliance requirements.
- Support senior accountants and management with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Strong understanding of debits, credits, journal entries, accruals, and financial statements.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online strongly preferred.
- Experience working with multiple business clients is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred Experience
Experience working in a CPA firm, accounting firm, or outsourced accounting environment is strongly preferred.
Experience with businesses in industries such as healthcare, pharmacies, real estate, construction, restaurants, logistics, and professional services is a plus.

We are looking for someone who does more than simply categorize transactions. The ideal candidate understands why transactions are recorded a certain way and how they affect the financial statements.
The Staff Accountant should be able to review a client’s books, identify problems, investigate discrepancies, and deliver accurate financial information that our tax planners and CFO advisors can rely on.
