Role Description The Senior Research Development Chemist is a full-time, on-site role based in Tripoli, responsible for leading formulation and product development projects, particularly in coatings and related chemical systems. Day-to-day activities include designing and conducting laboratory experiments, analyzing test data, optimizing formulations, and troubleshooting performance issues. The role involves close collaboration with production, quality, and commercial teams to scale up new products, improve existing lines, and ensure consistency with safety and regulatory standards. The chemist will prepare technical reports, maintain accurate laboratory documentation, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the R&D function. This position requires proactive identification of new technologies, materials, and methods that can enhance product performance and manufacturing efficiency.
Qualifications
- * Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex experimental data for decision-making and problem-solving.
- Hands-on laboratory skills, including safe handling of chemicals, experimental design, and use of common analytical instruments.
- Demonstrated experience in Research and Development (R&D), including formulation development, process optimization, and scale-up activities.
- Expertise or significant experience in coatings or related chemical products, including performance testing and application methods.
- Quality control experience, including developing test protocols, monitoring product consistency, and supporting root-cause investigations.
- Relevant degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred for senior-level responsibilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards applicable to chemical laboratories and manufacturing environments.
- Prior experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting and leading or mentoring junior technical staff is an advantage.
