Position Purpose
The Quality Control Representative is responsible for monitoring the quality, progress, and efficiency of the manufacturing and production process. The role is primarily based on the production floor and requires regular inspections, observations, documentation, and follow-up.
The representative will use an iPad and digital checklists to record inspections, identify issues, document defects, and follow up on corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Quality Control
- Inspect furniture throughout the production process and upon completion.
- Check workmanship, finishing, assembly, dimensions, materials, and overall quality.
- Identify defects, damages, inconsistencies, or incomplete work.
- Conduct regular and random quality inspections.
- Document issues using the iPad and photographs when necessary.
- Communicate issues to the appropriate production personnel and management.
- Follow up to ensure corrections are completed.
Production Progress & Efficiency
- Monitor production orders and their progress throughout the day.
- Check whether work is progressing according to planned timelines.
- Identify delays, bottlenecks, interruptions, and recurring production issues.
- Monitor production times and flag significant inefficiencies.
- Follow up on priority and time-sensitive orders.
- Report issues that may affect completion dates or customer commitments.
Employee Work Practices
- Observe production employees and ensure established procedures and quality standards are followed.
- Identify work practices that may affect quality, productivity, or product handling.
- Report recurring issues to the appropriate manager.
- Maintain an objective and professional approach when documenting observations.
Final Product Verification
- Conduct final quality checks before products leave the production department.
- Verify that products are complete and meet the required specifications.
- Identify and document any corrections required before release.
Coordination with Warehouse & Delivery
- Communicate with the Warehouse Manager regarding production issues affecting delivery schedules or order readiness.
- Notify the Warehouse Manager when orders are delayed, incomplete, or ready for transfer.
- Follow up on production-related issues that may impact loading, delivery, or logistics.
- Escalate significant issues to management.
Reporting & Documentation
- Complete daily digital QC and production checklists.
- Maintain accurate records of defects, delays, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Prepare regular updates for management.
- Track recurring issues and highlight areas requiring improvement.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience in quality control, furniture manufacturing, production, carpentry, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues.
- Good understanding of manufacturing and production processes.
- Comfortable working on the production floor.
- Comfortable using an iPad, tablet, or digital reporting system.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Able to report issues objectively and professionally.
