Senior Accountant
About the Role
A client based in Lebanon is seeking to recruit a Senior Accountant to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely reporting, strengthening financial controls, and providing financial analysis to support business decisions.
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Beirut, Lebanon. Occasional business travel may be required, including travel to Africa, depending on business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Oversee general ledger activities, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash-flow monitoring.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Prepare variance analysis and provide financial insights to management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls and accounting procedures.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit matters.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and reporting issues.
- Improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting procedures.
- Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams on financial matters.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial information.
- Support international financial activities and undertake occasional business travel, including travel to Africa, when required.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Timely completion of month-end and year-end closing.
- Accuracy and completion of account reconciliations.
- Compliance with accounting, tax, and statutory requirements.
- Effective cash-flow monitoring and reporting.
- Accuracy of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
- Timely resolution of accounting discrepancies.
- Audit readiness and timely closure of audit findings.
- Effectiveness of internal financial controls.
- Implementation of accounting and process improvements.
- Accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, including proven experience in a Senior Accountant or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting, reporting, general ledger management, and reconciliations.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cash-flow management.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and compliance requirements in Lebanon.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits.
- Experience in an international or multi-market environment is an advantage.
- CPA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent certification is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel internationally, including to Africa, when required.
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Beirut, Lebanon.
