Reports to: Senior Director, Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program
Role Purpose
The senior officer develops and implements communication and outreach initiatives that enhance the visibility and sustainability of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. He or She designs marketing plans to attract suitable calibers, manages the program's brand identity across digital and print media, and oversees the production of success stories and reports. The role ensures effective dissemination of the program's core messages to the sponsor, partners, and the wider community while supporting student outreach and engagement events. The job holder works closely with the program team and relevant AUC units to ensure coordinated messaging and advance the program’s mission of developing a cadre of professionally skilled leaders from across Africa.
Core Responsibilities
Communication and Outreach:
- Design and implement communication initiatives and marketing outreach efforts to increase program visibility and meet recruitment goals
- Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all marketing materials, ensuring compliance with AUC and sponsor branding guidelines
- Develop and maintain the program’s stakeholder contact lists, e.g., media, NGOs, and sponsors, to be used for dissemination and networking
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of communication strategies, adjusting plans to maximize reach and effectiveness
Internal Communication and Engagement Strategies:
- Develop and implement targeted internal communication strategies to enhance timely, clear, and effective communication with students, faculty, staff, and program partners
- Establish regular communication channels, e.g., newsletters, email briefings, virtual forums, and feedback mechanisms, to support information sharing, engagement, and alignment across stakeholders
- Assess communication effectiveness and continuously refine approaches to improve responsiveness, inclusivity, and stakeholder satisfaction
Content Creation and Digital Management:
- Manage the program’s digital platforms, including the website and social media channels, ensuring content is up-to-date and engaging
- Draft, edit, and distribute various communications materials such as press releases, brochures, newsletters, and success stories
- Document program activities through photography and videography to create multimedia content for promotional use
Events and Recruitment Support:
- Plan and supervise promotional events, including information sessions and graduate fairs, to support student recruitment
- Support the recruitment and selection phases of the program, ensuring effective outreach to potential applicants. Organize major program events and retreats
Reporting and Compliance:
- Assist in the preparation of technical quarterly and annual reports for submission to sponsors
- Ensure all communication outputs align with the ethical and professional standards of the university and the funding agency
Additional Related Duties:
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in mass communications or social sciences is required
- Master’s degree in a relevant field is a plus
- Minimum of eight to ten years of experience
Technical Skills:
- Communication: Excellent command of English and Arabic, with the ability to draft detailed reports
- Technical: High computer literacy, good knowledge of social media platforms, and graphic design skills are highly preferred
- Managerial: Strong project management and multitasking skills, with the ability to work under pressure
- Analytical: Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot
- Work Conditions: Based in Cairo, Egypt with some travel
