As a Lighting Engineer at ALEC Technologies, you will support the construction delivery, installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of lighting systems. You will coordinate with consultants, suppliers, specialist subcontractors, and construction teams to ensure lighting installations meet approved designs, performance requirements, quality standards, and project timelines.
Your Role
- Review lighting layouts, specifications, shop drawings, luminaire schedules, and control schematics to identify technical requirements and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate lighting installations with architectural finishes, electrical services, structural supports, AV systems, and other building services.
- Prepare and review technical submittals, material approvals, RFIs, method statements, and inspection and test plans.
- Supervise the installation of luminaires, LED drivers, lighting control panels, gateways, sensors, and associated power and control cabling.
- Verify luminaire and driver compatibility, dimming performance, circuit loading, mounting arrangements, and maintenance access.
- Coordinate with specialist suppliers and subcontractors on lighting-control configuration, addressing, zoning, scene settings, and commissioning.
- Support integration with AV, show-control, and building management systems, as required by the approved project scope.
- Participate in lighting mock-ups, fixture aiming, and performance checks covering illuminance, uniformity, glare, colour consistency, and flicker.
- Troubleshoot installation and control issues, including wiring faults, communication failures, and inconsistent dimming.
- Coordinate site inspections, testing and commissioning, integrated system testing, and snag resolution.
- Monitor progress and material availability to support timely delivery of the lighting package.
- Prepare as-built drawings, testing records, O&M documentation, and handover submissions.
- Ensure all activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable authority requirements, and site safety procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in lighting engineering, including installation, technical coordination, testing, and commissioning on construction projects.
- Construction experience with an MEP contractor, specialist lighting contractor, or systems integrator is essential.
- Experience delivering architectural lighting and lighting-control systems.
- Experience on entertainment venues, theatres, arenas, theme parks, immersive attractions, or similarly complex projects is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of LED luminaires, drivers, dimming methods, lighting circuits, and control-system compatibility.
- Practical knowledge of DALI/DALI-2; familiarity with DMX512, RDM, sACN, and Art-Net is an advantage.
- Ability to interpret lighting drawings, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and technical specifications.
- Understanding of lighting-control networks and interfaces with AV, show-control, and BMS systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with DIALux evo, Relux, or equivalent lighting calculation software.
- Familiarity with Revit and BIM coordination is an advantage.
- Strong technical troubleshooting, site coordination, documentation, and communication skills.
