- Draft, review, negotiate, and administer maritime and commercial contracts, including:
- Time, Voyage, and Bareboat Charter Parties
- BIMCO Agreements
- Ship Management Agreements
- Shipbuilding & Repair Contracts
- Sale & Purchase Agreements
- Agency Agreements
- Bunker Supply Contracts
- Service / Procurement Contracts
- NDAs
- Identify contractual and commercial risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Monitor contractual obligations, notices, claims deadlines, and key milestones.
- Provide legal and contractual support to Commercial, Operations, Technical, and Marine teams.
- Review fixture recaps, charter party amendments, and commercial correspondence.
- Support negotiations with charterers, suppliers, shipyards, and service providers.
- Manage maritime claims including off-hire, cargo, demurrage, detention, bunker, shipyard, Hull & Machinery, and P&I matters.
- Prepare contractual notices, reservation of rights letters, and claims documentation.
- Coordinate with external legal counsel, P&I Clubs, insurers, brokers, and maritime consultants.
- Support arbitration, mediation, litigation, casualty response, and claims recovery where required.
- Maintain contract records and document management systems.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in maritime law, shipping contracts, legal affairs, or contracts management.
- Strong knowledge of Charter Parties and BIMCO contracts.
- Experience handling maritime claims and disputes.
- Understanding of marine insurance, P&I, Hull & Machinery, and contractual risk.
- Strong negotiation, drafting, commercial, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience within a ship owner, ship manager, shipping operator, maritime law firm, or P&I Club is highly preferred.
