About the Role:
We are looking for a hands-on VP, Engineering to lead the transition from an outsourced technology model to a high-performing in-house engineering function.
This is a strategic and technical leadership role for an experienced engineering leader who can operate across architecture, software development, infrastructure, security, and team building.
The successful candidate will help shape the technical direction of a growing, multi-product wealth management platform, with responsibility for building scalable systems, strengthening engineering practices, and developing a lean, high-performing team.
This role requires someone who is comfortable moving between strategic decision-making and hands-on technical execution, particularly during the initial transition and scale-up phase.
Key of Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Own and evolve the overall technical architecture to support the company's growth across wealth management, cards, lending, investments, and other financial products.
- Lead the continuous improvement of the existing Node.js and PostgreSQL architecture, including the evaluation and implementation of scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Lead the migration of the frontend from native mobile technologies toward a unified Flutter architecture while maintaining the stability of existing native applications.
- Oversee integrations with banks, payment providers, eKYC platforms, card processors, mutual fund administrators, and other fintech ecosystem partners.
- Establish strong engineering standards around code quality, testing, documentation, scalability, and maintainability.
Security, Infrastructure & DevOps
- Own the company's cloud infrastructure and work closely with the DevOps function to ensure reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, monitoring, availability, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Ensure appropriate security practices around data protection, encryption, access management, and financial transactions.
- Support compliance requirements related to FRA, CBE, PCI-DSS, and other applicable fintech and information-security standards.
Team Building & Engineering Execution
- Lead the transition of technical ownership from the current outsourced development team to an internal engineering function.
- Build and develop a lean, high-performing engineering team aligned with business and product priorities.
- Establish effective engineering workflows covering development, testing, code review, deployment, and continuous integration.
- Promote modern engineering practices including TDD, CI/CD, automation, and AI-assisted development.
- Remain hands-on with architecture, technical decisions, code reviews, and development, particularly during the initial transition and scale-up phase.
Business & Product Partnership
- Work closely with the CEO, Product, and other business stakeholders to translate business priorities into a practical and scalable technology roadmap.
- Balance technical excellence with business priorities, delivery timelines, and customer needs.
- Identify opportunities where AI and emerging technologies can improve product capabilities, engineering productivity, and operational efficiency.
- Act as the senior technical owner and advisor across major technology decisions.
Requirments:
Experience
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in an engineering leadership role.
- Strong experience in fintech, financial services, wealth management, payments, banking, or related technology environments.
- Proven experience building and leading engineering teams.
- Demonstrated experience transitioning from outsourced development to an internal engineering organization is highly preferred.
- Strong track record of remaining technically involved while leading teams and technical strategy.
Technical Expertise
- Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Microservices architecture is highly preferred.
- Strong experience with Flutter.
- Strong experience with Vue.js is preferred; experience with React.js may be considered.
- Working knowledge of native mobile development technologies, particularly Swift and/or Kotlin, is preferred.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure, preferably Huawei Cloud or a comparable cloud platform.
- Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, monitoring, deployment automation, and disaster recovery.
- Strong knowledge of Git, testing practices, TDD, and modern software development methodologies.
Fintech, Security & Compliance
- Experience working with financial systems, banking APIs, payment gateways, or other fintech integrations.
- Good understanding of secure data handling, encryption, authentication, and financial transaction security.
- Exposure to eKYC, card processing, banking integrations, or investment platforms is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with FRA, CBE, PCI-DSS, or comparable regulatory and security frameworks is highly preferred.

Education & Language
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or another relevant STEM field.
