Ultrasound Technologist II
Job Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist II plays a crucial role in assisting radiologists with invasive diagnostic techniques, including needle biopsies, aspirations, and guided needle-wire placement exams for surgical procedures. This position also involves training residents and ensuring standardization across exams.
Responsibilities

Assist the radiologist in performing various invasive diagnostic tests.

Provide training and standardize procedures for residents regarding ultrasound exams.

Evaluate contra-indications, including medications, patient preparation, and patient willingness to undergo procedures.

Conduct ultrasound procedures under general or direct supervision, as appropriate.

Identify sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissues, structures, and blood flow.

Analyze sonography findings during examinations to deliver comprehensive data to physicians.

Recognize abnormalities that necessitate real-time observation by the radiologist.

Obtain images of structures while acquiring Doppler signals and recording relevant patient information.

Communicate preliminary results of examinations to the radiologist and referring physician.
Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of three years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.

Completion of departmental specific Sonographer competencies within twelve months of hiring.

Ability to complete annual modality competencies and ongoing education for Ultrasound Technologist II.

Experience with EPIC software.

Familiarity with GE E-10 ultrasound equipment.

Previous experience in vascular ultrasound procedures.
Education
- Completion of a twelve-month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography/General Ultrasound or an equivalent certificate program is required.
Required Certifications & Licensure

Registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers with certification in at least one relevant modality.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
Schedule
This position follows a schedule of four ten-hour shifts from Tuesday to Friday, with Friday night being the only weekend requirement.
