About the Role
The Terminal Supervisorwill oversee day-to-day terminal operations, ensure the safe and efficient management of employees, contractors, equipment, and operational activities while support the smooth handling and movement of cargo.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise employees, contractors, and visitors while ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards.
- Support Gate and Yard strategy and operational optimization.
- Oversee yard allocations, equipment assignments, and operational readiness.
- Monitor on-ground operations to ensure timely and efficient execution.
- Coordinate with Customs on cargo inspections, holds, scanning activities, and related requirements.
- Manage special cargo handling, including projects, hazardous, and damaged cargo.
- Monitor equipment utilization and operator efficiency to minimize downtime.
- Track crane productivity, yard capacity, and operational performance.
- Address congestion and operational delays through timely corrective actions.
- Participate in workforce planning, rostering, and employee performance reviews.
- Monitor operational KPIs, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 6+ years of relevant experience in countermine terminal operations, including direct experience within a container terminal, port, dry port, or inland container depot (ICD), with progressively increasing levels of responsibility. Supervisory or team-leading experience in terminal operations is required or intermodal terminal.
- In-depth knowledge of container terminal operations, including yard management, gate operations, container handling, and cargo operations.
- Proficiency in Terminal Operating Systems (TOS) and knowledge of container handling equipment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, industry standards, and compliance requirements related to terminal operations.
Preferred Certifications
Relevant certifications such as Terminal Operating System (TOS) and/or Certified Port Executive (CPE) are preferred.
