About the Role
We are looking for a talented, customer-focused Systems Engineer with a strong background in Linux and networking to join our global technical implementation team as a Technical Solutions Engineer.
At Halon, we build advanced email infrastructure and security software for demanding, business-critical use cases. Our customers include organisations such as LinkedIn, SAP, Zendesk, Microsoft, Rakuten and 1&1. Customer satisfaction is central to our success: we work closely with our clients and consistently achieve an NPS of 70+.
Responsibilities
As our customer base continues to grow, we are expanding our technical implementation team. This is a diverse, hands-on, and dynamic role in which you will:
- Build proof of concepts for prospective clients, implement and support migrations for newly signed customers, and occasionally assist long-standing clients with more complex work on their existing systems.
- Support customers throughout the full journey—from pre-sales and implementation to ongoing technical engagement—creating continuity for both you and the client.
- Continuously learn and develop your expertise while working with large-scale, complex systems where every customer environment is different.
- Design and implement email systems using Halon server software and the Halon Scripting Language.
- Communicate with customers asynchronously via Slack and email, as well as in video meetings alongside Sales Engineers or Technical Account Managers.
- Collaborate closely with the product team, surfacing customer challenges and opportunities for improvement.

- Have experience with Linux networking and server technologies, containers such as Docker, orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, proxies such as HAProxy, and related technologies.
- Are highly comfortable working from the command line and can quickly research and learn unfamiliar technologies.
Technical foundation
- Scripting or programming experience, for example Shell, Python, Perl, or PHP.
- Linux server operations in complex production environments.
- Configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Container and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Elasticsearch/Kibana or similar observability stacks.
- Git, YAML/JSON, and REST APIs.
Nice to have
- Experience with email technologies and protocols, including SMTP, DNS, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.
- Experience with email servers such as PowerMTA, Momentum, Postfix, or similar solutions.
- A solid understanding of computer systems, from disk latency and CPU instruction sets to the way software behaves and can be optimised.
