The role We are looking for a steel structures engineer who can do real design work and also understands what it takes to build the design in a workshop. This is a fabrication-side role, not a design-office or site-supervision role for concrete structures.
Responsibilities
Design
- Design steel members, connections, base plates, and secondary steelwork
- Build and run analysis models and check results against project codes
- Prepare design calculations and technical submissions for clients and consultants
- Respond to client comments and clarifications on design and drawings
Fabrication and project support
- Review and approve shop drawings and erection drawings, and coordinate with detailers
- Prepare weight takeoffs and material lists
- Support estimating and tender pricing for new RFQs
- Support QA/QC documentation, including ITPs, material traceability, and inspection records
- Work with the workshop team on fabrication tolerances and technical queries
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in structural steel design and/or fabrication (PEB, heavy steel structures, industrial steelwork)
- Proficiency in STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or ETABS for steel structures
- Proficiency in Tekla Structures or equivalent detailing software
- Proficiency in IdeaStatica and designing connections
- Solid knowledge of AISC, Eurocode 3, or SBC 306 steel provisions
- Strong knowledge of steel connection design and welding and bolting requirements
- Good written English for technical submissions
- Experience with estimating or tender preparation in a fabrication company
- Knowledge of AWS D1.1, ISO 3834, or ISO 9001 QA/QC requirements
