The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Specialist Psychiatrist to join our practice in a full-time, on-site role in Doha.
This is a key clinical position within the Medical Center. We are looking for a psychiatrist who is comfortable working independently, managing an established and varied outpatient caseload, and providing continuity of care to patients requiring both short- and long-term psychiatric treatment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Medical Director and our psychology and clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and formulate diagnoses and treatment plans
- Provide ongoing psychiatric management of an established outpatient caseload
- Undertake psychopharmacological management with appropriate monitoring and follow-up
- Provide appropriate psychological interventions within the psychiatrist's scope of practice
- Assess and manage a broad range of psychiatric conditions in adults
- Experience in assessing and treating children and adolescents would be a significant advantage
- Manage complex and comorbid psychiatric presentations with sound clinical judgment
- Identify and appropriately manage risk, deterioration and situations requiring urgent intervention or a higher level of care
- Collaborate closely with psychologists and other members of the clinical team
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in case discussions, clinical governance and quality improvement
Essential Qualifications
- Medical degree with a recognised postgraduate specialist qualification in Psychiatry
- Currently licensed, or clearly eligible for licensure, as a Specialist Psychiatrist in Qatar
- Appropriate board certification or recognised equivalent specialist qualification
- Substantial post-specialist clinical experience in Psychiatry
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage a broad outpatient psychiatric caseload
- Strong knowledge of contemporary evidence-based psychopharmacology
- Good understanding of psychological approaches to psychiatric treatment
- Strong clinical judgment, professionalism and ethical standards
- Excellent English communication and clinical documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds
Preferred
- Current Specialist Psychiatrist licence in Qatar
- Established clinical experience in Qatar or the GCC
- Experience in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
- Experience in managing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD and other common and complex outpatient psychiatric presentations
- Experience working collaboratively with psychologists and delivering integrated psychiatric and psychological care
