Job Responsibilities:
Pre-installation;
- Survey hoistways, pits, and machine rooms, and check dimensions against the approved layout drawings before equipment is delivered.
- Issue builder's work requirements to the main contractor, then confirm they are ready. This covers the pit, overhead, hoistway plumbness, lifting hooks, power supply, and access.
- For escalators, coordinate the truss delivery route, the lifting and rigging plan, and support pocket readiness with the main contractor.
- Receive equipment at site, check it against the packing list and PO, and report shortages or damage within 24 hours.
Installation and commissioning;
- Supervise the full installation sequence. For elevators this covers scaffolding or platform setup, rail alignment, the traction machine and controller, car and counterweight, wire ropes, landing and car doors, and electrical wiring. For escalators it covers truss positioning, step chain, steps, handrails, and balustrades.
- Enforce installation manuals and quality standards across all crews.
- Lead testing and adjustment: safety gear and governor tests, buffer and load tests, leveling accuracy, door operation, ride quality, and safety circuit checks.
Planning and progress;
- Keep the site installation schedule aligned with the construction program, and escalate contractor-caused delays that affect handover.
- Prepare daily and weekly progress reports, site diaries, and look-ahead plans for each unit.
- Track materials, crew productivity, and variations against the project budget.
Client and stakeholder coordination;
- Act as the company's technical point of contact on site for the client, consultant, and main contractor.
