Overview Of The Role:The Senior Financial Accountant plays a vital role in the company's financial operations, ensuring the accurate and timely recognition, recording, and reporting of revenue in compliance with IFRS 15 and internal policies. As the owner of the revenue close cycle, the Finance Senior collaborates with Sales, Operations, and Commercial teams to ensure that contract terms are correctly reflected in financial statements. This role involves maintaining rigorous controls over billing and receivables and providing critical insights into revenue performance through variance analysis and management reporting. Success in this role requires a strong control mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines during financial close cycles.
What You Will Do:
- * Apply IFRS 15 to customer contracts, including identifying performance obligations, allocating transaction price, and determining the timing of recognition.
- Review new and amended contracts for revenue accounting implications such as variable consideration, discounts, rebates, and multiple-element arrangements.
- Prepare and post monthly revenue journals, accruals, deferrals, and unbilled revenue adjustments, and maintain deferred revenue and contract balance roll-forwards.
- Own the revenue and receivables close at month-end, quarter-end, and year-end, including balance sheet reconciliations for all revenue-related accounts.
- Perform revenue variance analysis versus budget, forecast, and prior periods, and contribute to management reporting and statutory disclosures.
- Oversee billing accuracy, monitor AR ageing and expected credit loss provisions, and operate internal controls over the order-to-cash cycle.
- Act as the primary contact for auditors on revenue matters, support system and process improvements, and coach junior accountants.
Required Skills To Be Successful:
- * Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of ERP and billing systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- High attention to detail with a strong control mindset.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines during financial close cycles.
- Effective communication skills for explaining complex accounting matters to non-finance stakeholders.
What Qualifies You For The Role:
- * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CMA, or CA) completed or in progress.
- 4-6 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in revenue accounting; Big 4 audit experience is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience applying IFRS 15 and IFRS 9 in a complex, multi-product or multi-entity environment.
