About the Company
AF GROUP is looking for a talented and creative Architectural Design Engineer to join our design team in Cairo/Giza, Egypt, working on projects in Saudi Arabia.
About the Role
We are seeking a design-driven professional with a strong creative mindset and at least 5 years of experience in architectural design, preferably within engineering consultancies or architectural design practices.
The ideal candidate should be capable of developing projects from initial concepts through design development and detailed architectural documentation, translating client requirements into functional, visually compelling, and efficient spaces. Strong knowledge of applicable Saudi building codes, municipal requirements, and local architectural design guidelines is essential.
Responsibilities
- Develop architectural concepts, spatial layouts, and design solutions aligned with client requirements and the overall project vision.
- Prepare and develop architectural designs, drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation throughout the design stages.
- Review project briefs, assess design requirements, and refine proposals in response to client feedback.
- Select appropriate materials and finishes, and develop architectural specifications that support design intent, quality, and sustainability.
- Analyze design alternatives and refine models to improve functionality, aesthetics, and the efficient use of space and resources.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable Saudi building codes, municipal regulations, planning requirements, and relevant international standards.
- Apply relevant design requirements and architectural guidelines for projects in Riyadh, Diriyah, Wadi Hanifah, and the Sports Boulevard, including Salmani architectural principles where applicable.
- Prepare professional presentations and visual materials that clearly communicate design ideas and support client discussions.
- Coordinate with landscape, structural, MEP, and other design disciplines to ensure consistent and fully integrated project deliverables.
- Review drawings and models to identify design conflicts and resolve coordination issues before submission.
- Manage assigned design tasks and deadlines, and prepare regular progress reports for the Architectural Department Manager.
- Follow approved operational procedures, quality standards, occupational health and safety policies, and internal administrative requirements.
- Undertake additional responsibilities relevant to the role as assigned by the direct manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in architectural design.
- Experience working within engineering consultancies or architectural design offices.
- Demonstrated experience designing projects for the Saudi Arabian market.
Required Skills
- Strong capabilities in architectural concept design, spatial planning, design development, and detailed design.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable Saudi building codes and local design requirements, particularly those relevant to Riyadh, Diriyah, Wadi Hanifah, and the Sports Boulevard.
- Strong understanding of Salmani architectural principles and their application to relevant projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and BIM workflows, V-Ray, and AI-powered design and visualization tools.
- Ability to produce coordinated architectural drawings, models, specifications, and presentation materials.
- Strong understanding of landscape and outdoor-space design principles and their integration with architecture.
- Excellent creative thinking, design research, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to explain design decisions and build client confidence.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication skills and an excellent command of English.
Preferred Skills
- A strong portfolio demonstrating original architectural concepts and their development into coordinated, technically resolved designs.
- Experience integrating Saudi architectural identity, local context, and sustainability considerations into contemporary design solutions.
- Ability to use emerging design technologies to explore alternatives and improve the quality of design presentations.
