Quality Assurance Engineer
Remote | Full-Time
Location note: Any location shown on the job post refers to the job/business location, not the applicant’s current location.
Spotter Labs is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Assurance Engineer with strong experience in the trucking industry.
This role combines software quality assurance with real-world trucking knowledge. You’ll help ensure our products work correctly across realistic trucking, logistics, and operational scenarios.
Our products are built using React and Django on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Deep software engineering experience is not required, but you should be comfortable learning technical tools and reviewing work using tools such as Git GUI.
What You’ll Do
-
Develop and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases.
-
Perform manual testing across web and mobile applications.
-
Test features using realistic trucking and logistics scenarios.
-
Identify, document, and track software bugs and inconsistencies.
-
Work closely with developers to provide clear and timely feedback.
-
Perform regression testing after new releases, features, and bug fixes.
-
Analyze test results and report testing progress and outcomes.
-
Continuously improve QA processes, tools, and testing methodologies.
-
Participate in code reviews and provide feedback from a QA perspective.
-
Help ensure software reflects real-world trucking operations and industry requirements.
What We’re Looking For
-
Significant experience in the trucking industry.
-
Strong understanding of trucking operations, logistics, workflows, and safety.
-
Basic understanding of software QA methodologies and testing processes.
-
Strong attention to detail.
-
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to clearly document issues and communicate with technical teams.
-
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
-
Willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
Nice to Have
-
Experience with Agile development environments.
-
Familiarity with Git or Git GUI tools.
-
Basic SQL knowledge.
-
Basic scripting knowledge.
-
Previous experience testing web or mobile applications.
-
Experience working with transportation, logistics, fleet-management, ELD, or trucking software.
Who This Role Is For
This role is especially suited to someone who understands how trucking actually works in the real world and wants to apply that knowledge to building better software.
We’re not only looking for someone who can find technical bugs.
We’re looking for someone who can look at a product and ask:
-
Does this workflow make sense for a trucking company?
-
Would a dispatcher, driver, or operations team actually use it this way?
-
Are there edge cases the development team may not have considered?
-
Does the product accurately reflect real-world trucking operations?
If you have strong trucking-industry knowledge and are interested in applying that experience to technology and software quality, we’d like to hear from you.
