Role Description
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for monitoring and verifying product quality throughout the production process, from raw materials to finished goods. Day-to-day tasks include conducting visual and dimensional inspections, performing tests according to established procedures, documenting inspection results, and reporting nonconformities to relevant stakeholders. The role also involves collaborating with production and quality teams to implement corrective actions, maintaining inspection tools and records, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This is a full-time role based in 10th of Ramadan.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of raw materials and products according to approved specifications, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria.
- Conduct technical measurements of dimensions, thickness, weight, appearance, and other specifications using a vernier caliper, micrometer, and appropriate measuring instruments.
- Monitor the quality of the production process, identify deviations and defects, and correlate them with operational variables such as temperature, pressure, speed, and material.
- Conduct sampling inspections according to the inspection plan and AQL (Acceptance, Quality, and Lending) standards, ensuring the integrity of samples and applying acceptance and rejection criteria.
- Inspect plastic products and detect defects such as flash, short shots, sink marks, warping, burn marks, color/thickness variations, and surface defects.
- Handling non-conforming products through identification, isolation, documentation, issuance of NCRs, and follow-up on rework/correction and re-inspection.
- Analyzing quality data and trends, and monitoring defect and rejection indicators using tools such as Pareto, Trend Analysis, and SPC.
- Participating in root cause analysis of defects using the 5 Whys, Fishbone, and RCA, and following up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurements through the correct use of measuring instruments, monitoring calibration/verification, and familiarity with MSA and Gauge R&R principles.
- Documenting inspection results, ensuring traceability, linking quality results to machine, material, lot, date, and shift, and preparing required quality reports.
Required Technical Skills:
- Reading technical drawings, product specifications, tolerance, and inspection standards.
- Good knowledge of measuring instruments, inspection methods, and calibration/verification. • Knowledge of SPC fundamentals, Control Charts, Cp/Cpk, AQL & Sampling.
- Knowledge of defects and processes in Plastic Extrusion & Injection Molding.
- Basic knowledge of plastic materials and their properties such as MFI/MFR, Density & Moisture.
- Knowledge of quality tools: 7 QC Tools, 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto, RCA, CAPA & NCR.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant higher education qualification.
- 3-5 years of experience in quality control within an industrial environment.
- Experience in the plastics industry, especially extrusion or injection molding, is highly preferred.
- Ability to work shifts and in a production environment.
- High accuracy, keen observation, analytical thinking, and strict adherence to specifications.
