QC Laboratory Technologist

What you'll do
- Receive and register in-process, final product and maternal samples, checking identity, labels and chain of custody
- Send samples for outsourced testing (e.g. maternal IDM, HLA typing) and track results
- Test cord blood units: TNC and differential counts, CD34+ and viability by flow cytometry (ISHAGE, 7-AAD), CFU assays, ABO/Rh grouping, and bacterial and fungal sterility
- Run post-thaw potency and viability tests on reference segments when required
- Carry out environmental and personnel monitoring: particle counts, air sampling, settle and contact plates, glove and gown plates, and reading and identifying isolates
- Run IQC before testing, take part in EQA/PT schemes, and maintain and calibrate lab equipment
- Prepare and qualify reagents and culture media, including growth promotion testing
- Record data contemporaneously (ALCOA+), prepare Certificates of Analysis for QC review and QA release, and support EM trending
- Report any OOS result, deviation or EM excursion immediately. Never repeat a test without an approved OOS investigation
- Support IQ/OQ/PQ, method validation, audits and MOH/AABB inspections
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Biomedical Science or equivalent
- Oman MOH professional licence (or eligibility to obtain one)
- At least 2 years in a clinical, blood bank or QC laboratory
- Skills with haematology analysers, microscopy and basic microbiology
- Aseptic technique and an understanding of IQC and EQA
- Good English, plus LIMS and spreadsheet skills
Nice to have
- Stem cell / cord blood QC experience in an AABB-, FACT- or ISO 15189-accredited lab
- Flow cytometry (ISHAGE CD34+), CFU assay and BacT/ALERT sterility system experience
- Cleanroom EM sampling experience (EU GMP Annex 1 / ISO 14644)
- ASCP (MLS/MB) or equivalent certification, or a postgraduate qualification
- English & Arabic (spoken and written)
