Job Summary
The QA/QC Engineer ensures that all project and construction activities are executed in accordance with approved project specifications, quality standards, and industry best practices. The role is responsible for implementing and monitoring the Project Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with approved Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality procedures to deliver projects within the required timeframe and to the client's quality expectations.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Project QA/QC Manager or Senior QA/QC Engineer in implementing the Project Quality Management System in accordance with the approved Project Quality Plan and IMS procedures.
- Prepare and submit Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) for all construction activities and coordinate with consultants to obtain required inspections and approvals.
- Ensure all construction activities are performed in compliance with approved project specifications, quality standards, method statements, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Inspect and verify incoming materials against project specifications, approved material submittals, and applicable quality requirements.
- Monitor the status of WIRs, test reports, inspections, and quality records, and provide regular updates to the QA/QC Manager and project team.
- Establish and maintain QA/QC Plans, Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans, and related quality documentation prior to project commencement and throughout project execution.
- Ensure effective implementation of document control procedures and proper distribution of approved documents through the document control system.
- Review and verify that all method statements, test plans, and quality-related submissions are approved and available before commencement of relevant construction activities.
- Coordinate with site teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure quality requirements are understood and consistently implemented throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, and testing documentation to demonstrate compliance with project and contractual requirements.
- Identify quality non-conformities, support corrective and preventive actions, and follow up on their effective closure.
- Ensure all completed works meet project quality standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations before handover.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of international and local quality standards, codes, and specifications such as ISO 9001, QCS, SMACNA, ASHRAE, NFPA, and other applicable industry standards.
- Strong technical expertise in identifying, analyzing, and resolving QA/QC issues across construction and engineering activities.
- Sound understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Integrated Management Systems (IMS), including quality assurance processes, audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Ability to review and interpret project specifications, drawings, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and quality procedures.
- Knowledge of local regulations, construction standards, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Effective coordination and communication skills with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.
- Proficiency in quality documentation, inspection processes, and control of records.
- ERP knowledge, preferably SAP, with strong functional and reporting capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and quality management tools.
Job Experience
- Minimum 5 years of total professional experience.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in QA/QC within construction, engineering, or building services projects.
- GCC experience of at least 2 years is preferred.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems, conducting inspections, preparing quality documentation, and coordinating with consultants and clients.
- Proven experience in managing Work Inspection Requests (WIRs), material inspections, testing activities, and quality compliance throughout project execution.
