Role Description
The peace advocate role is a remote, volunteer position focused on supporting the council’s mission of promoting peace and justice through dialogue and collaboration. In this role, the peace advocate contributes to research and analysis on global peace and conflict issues, prepares concise briefings and reports, and helps develop recommendations for peaceful solutions. You will participate in online meetings, forums, and working groups, engaging respectfully with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to foster understanding and cooperative problem-solving. Main responsibilities include writing communications and educational materials, assisting in the organization of online events, and amplifying the council’s initiatives through social media and digital channels. The position is designed for individuals who wish to actively support global peace efforts while working flexibly and remotely. Main qualifications
- Ability to conduct research on peace, conflict, and international relations, and synthesize information into clear, accessible summaries.
- Strong communication skills, including clear writing, active listening, and respectful dialogue with individuals from diverse cultures and viewpoints.
- Demonstrated commitment to peacebuilding, social justice, human rights, or related causes through study, volunteering, or community engagement.
- Capacity for diplomatic thinking, conflict sensitivity, and peaceful problem-solving in discussions and collaborative work.
- Comfort with remote work, including reliable internet access and basic proficiency with online collaboration tools and online meeting platforms.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and contribute consistently as a volunteer within a multicultural, international environment.
- Relevant academic background or experience in fields such as international relations, peace and conflict studies, political science, sociology, or community organizing is beneficial.
- Proficiency in multiple languages and prior experience in intercultural or cross-border initiatives are considered strong assets.
