About the role
As Merchandising & Discovery Lead, you will take ownership of how Pierce’s extensive assortment is presented and discovered across its different markets. Your mission is to make sure customers are presented with the right products, in the right order and in the right context, while building scalable and automated ways of working that can support Pierce’s continued international expansion.
Rather than manually merchandising each market, you will develop the rules, logic and automation behind how products are presented. This includes areas such as onsite search, PLPs and product ranking, recommendations, campaign rotation, cross-sell and upsell, with factors such as customer behaviour, stock, margin and local market needs guiding how products are prioritized.
Automation, technology and AI will be important enablers in the role. Pierce is expanding rapidly and today operates local sites across around 30 markets, making scalable solutions increasingly important. You will work closely with Tech and BI/Data to develop smarter and more scalable ways of working and explore how AI-driven solutions can improve product discovery and reduce manual work. With a newly launched e-commerce platform, you will have the opportunity to help build much of this from the ground up rather than simply manage existing processes.
You will be part of the new Site & Conversion team, reporting to the Site & Conversion Lead. You will work closely with a UX Designer as well as Category, Marketing, Tech and Customer Analytics to continuously improve how customers discover and interact with Pierce’s assortment.
Key responsibilities:
- Own and develop the logic for how Pierce’s assortment is presented and discovered across markets
- Optimize onsite search, filtering, product ranking and recommendations based on commercial and customer data
- Develop scalable rules for campaign rotation, cross-sell, upsell and product prioritization
- Drive automation of merchandising processes and explore relevant applications of AI
- Use data and insights to continuously improve product visibility, conversion and commercial performance
- Collaborate closely with UX, Category, CRM, Marketing, Tech and BI/Data to develop and implement new solutions
Your background
We are looking for an analytical and commercially minded e-commerce professional with experience in digital merchandising, product discovery or a similar area. You understand how assortment, customer behaviour and commercial priorities come together onsite and are comfortable working hands-on with both tools and data. You have a strong interest in technology and automation and enjoy finding smarter and more scalable ways of working. You are proactive and comfortable taking ownership, with the ability to move between commercial thinking and the technical details required to turn ideas into working solutions.
We would like you to have:
- Solid experience within e-commerce, digital merchandising, product discovery or a closely related area
- Hands-on experience with onsite search, filtering, product feeds, product ranking, PLPs, recommendations and/or relevant merchandising tools
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven commercial decisions
- Understanding of commercial factors such as conversion, margin, stock availability and cross-/upsell
- Experience working with automation and an interest in how AI can be applied within e-commerce
- Experience collaborating closely with Tech, BI/Data and commercial teams
- Experience from international or multi-market e-commerce is an advantage
- An interest in building and improving new ways of working rather than simply maintaining existing processes
