About the Role
SEE Engineering is seeking an experienced MEP Draftsman to support the technical team in preparing accurate, high-quality drawings for Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. The role is responsible for producing shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings in line with project specifications, design intent, and UAE authority requirements, supporting the smooth execution of MEP works on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare MEP shop drawings, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage, fire fighting, and fire alarm systems, based on consultant design drawings and specifications.
- Prepare combined services and coordination drawings, ensuring clash-free integration of MEP systems with architectural and structural elements.
- Prepare builder's work drawings, sections, details, and layouts as required for site execution.
- Prepare and update as-built drawings based on site mark-ups and approved changes.
- Prepare drawings for authority submissions and approvals (e.g., DEWA, Civil Defence, Dubai Municipality) in line with their requirements.
- Revise drawings based on consultant comments, RFIs, and design changes, maintaining accurate revision control.
- Coordinate with MEP engineers, site teams, and other disciplines to resolve drawing and coordination issues.
- Carry out site visits as required to verify site conditions and measurements.
- Maintain drawing registers and ensure drawings follow company and project CAD standards.
- Support the preparation of material take-offs and quantities from drawings when required.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit MEP and Navisworks is a strong advantage.
- Sound understanding of MEP systems, installation methods, and drawing standards.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP design drawings and specifications.
- Experience in preparing combined services and clash-free coordination drawings.
- Familiarity with UAE authority drawing and submission requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and site teams.
- Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and meet deadlines.
Education and Experience
- Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Draughting, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an MEP Draftsman in the construction industry.
- Experience on residential, high-rise, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- UAE project experience with working knowledge of DEWA and Civil Defence submissions.
- Experience in BIM-based workflows, including 3D modeling and clash detection.
- Experience with villa projects or MEP-intensive developments.
Work Environment
This role is primarily office-based within the technical department, with periodic site visits to verify conditions and support coordination. It involves close collaboration with engineers, site teams, and consultants, and requires the ability to work with diverse nationalities and to manage priorities under tight deadlines.
