Since its inception in 2010, National Reference Laboratory (NRL) has expanded from a single standalone reference laboratory to a network of 12 state-of-the-art facilities across the United Arab Emirates. NRL provides world-class diagnostic services to the M42 network and partners with more than 250 clients from a wide range of market segments, including private and government hospitals, medical centers and clinics, corporate organizations, and other reference laboratories.
Join our Microbiology team and play a critical role in supporting patient care through accurate and timely laboratory testing. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will perform microbiological analyses, maintain quality and safety standards, and contribute to a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within a CAP and ISO-accredited laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- * Receive, verify, process, and prepare clinical specimens for microbiology testing according to established laboratory protocols.
- Perform microbiological analyses using manual and automated methodologies, ensuring accurate and timely reporting of results.
- Validate and document test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) while maintaining data integrity and traceability.
- Conduct and monitor Quality Control (QC) and Proficiency Testing (PT) activities in compliance with laboratory standards.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments, ensuring routine calibration and performance monitoring.
- Support laboratory accreditation requirements by adhering to CAP, ISO 15189, DOH/DHA, JCI, and other regulatory standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, corrective actions, and process optimization projects.
- Maintain a safe laboratory environment by following biosafety, infection control, and occupational health and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- * Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or an equivalent relevant discipline.
- Valid DOH and/or DHA Medical Laboratory Technologist license, or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Experience working in a clinical diagnostic laboratory, preferably within a microbiology section.
- Knowledge of CAP, ISO 15189, quality management systems, and laboratory accreditation requirements.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation, quality control processes, and laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Preferred: Experience in a CAP- and ISO 15189-accredited laboratory, with exposure to automated microbiology platforms and reference laboratory operations.
