Role Objective
The Locality Experts program aims to improve the accuracy and freshness of all Auto data attributes.
This will be achieved by having a Locality Expert who understands local conditions, policies, and country-wide changes and can proactively identify potential real-world changes.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this role include:
- Conduct market research on trends in the automotive industry
- P0: Speed limits and EVCS
- P1: Other ADAS
- Work with the policy team to develop country-specific policies and provide local insights when needed
- Perform meta QC and random quality checks to identify data quality issues
- Develop country-level quality metrics and conduct in-country drives to collect feedback and data for client working groups
- Act as the main point of contact for country-related questions from other teams regarding basemap features, excluding Transit
- Review and maintain region-specific implicit and statutory speed limits and rules (for example, a speed limit of 20 on roads in a town compared to a state-wide limit of 30)
- Research news, government announcements, and notices from highway construction and other agencies about scheduled maintenance and road repairs
- Identify special cases, such as unique road sign variations and urban area polygon logic, that may be missed, as well as gaps in algorithms
- Help prioritize issues using local knowledge, including missing road signs and data errors that have the greatest impact on users
- Support communication with government and transit authorities to learn about upcoming changes and recurring data issues, while coordinating responsibilities with the Outreach and Partnerships teams
- Provide local knowledge and context to partnerships and other outreach teams when needed
- Offer guidance on different road sign types, their meanings, and local interpretations
- Support quality assurance and country certification processes to achieve and maintain high data quality standards
Experience / Skills
- At least 3 years of experience in the automotive industry or in urban planning, traffic, transit, signals, or signage
- Good understanding of market research methods and techniques
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in the local language and English
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage several projects at the same time
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail
