Job Description
- Electrical Discipline Leadership
- Lead the electrical engineering team across assigned projects.
- Allocate engineering activities to electrical engineers and designers based on project priorities and competence.
- Provide technical direction, mentoring and support to electrical team members.
- Review workload and resource requirements and report requirements to management.
- Monitor engineering productivity and deliverable progress.
- Ensure consistent technical standards and engineering practices are implemented across projects.
- Support recruitment, technical interviews and assessment of electrical engineering candidates when required.

- Electrical Design Management
Lead and oversee the development of electrical designs for buildings and infrastructure, including as applicable:

Ensure designs comply with applicable requirements including:
- Saudi Building Code, including applicable requirements of SBC 401 – Saudi Electrical Code.
- Saudi Electricity Company requirements and engineering standards.
- Saudi Arabian Distribution Code where applicable.
- Saudi Grid Code where applicable.
- Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu standards where applicable.
- Project-specific authority requirements.
- Saudi Civil Defense requirements where applicable.
- SASO requirements are applicable to electrical equipment and products.
International standards shall be applied where applicable and where consistent with project and Saudi requirements, including:

The Lead Electrical Engineer shall identify any conflicts between standards and ensure that the governing project requirement is clearly established.
- SEC and Utility Coordination
- Lead technical coordination with Saudi Electricity Company and other electricity providers.
- Determine electrical utility connection requirements.
- Coordinate load applications and utility demand requirements.
- Support development of utility connection strategies.
- Coordinate requirements for substations, metering and interface points.
- Lead responses to utility-provider technical comments.
- Attend technical meetings with SEC and other authorities.
- Monitor electrical approval status and support timely closure of outstanding comments.
- Multidisciplinary Coordination
Coordinate electrical requirements with:
- Architecture.
- Structural.
- Civil.
- Mechanical.
- HVAC.
- Public Health.
- Fire & Life Safety.
- Telecom and ICT.
- Security.
- Infrastructure.
- Utilities.
- Landscape.
- Process engineering where applicable.
The Lead Electrical Engineer shall ensure:
- Electrical rooms are appropriately sized and located.
- Equipment access and maintenance requirements are considered.
- Required penetrations, trenches, shafts and containment systems are coordinated.
- Electrical loads from other disciplines are captured.
- Utility corridors are coordinated.
- Electrical systems are properly integrated with mechanical, telecom, security and control systems.
- BIM and Digital Design Coordination
- Support implementation of BIM requirements within the electrical discipline.
- Coordinate with BIM Managers and BIM Coordinators.
- Ensure electrical models comply with project LOD/LOI requirements.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clash-detection reviews.
- Review model-based design issues affecting electrical systems.
- Ensure alignment between models, drawings, calculations and schedules.
- Technical Assurance and Quality
- Perform technical reviews of electrical designs.
- Ensure designs undergo appropriate checking and approval before issue.
- Review engineering calculations and assumptions.
- Conduct interdisciplinary design reviews.
- Participate in technical assurance and project gateway reviews.
- Identify design risks and ensure they are mitigated.
- Ensure technical comments are properly addressed before final submission.
- Promote lessons learned and standardization across projects.
- Maintain compliance with Assystem's Quality Management System.
- Client and Stakeholder Interface
- Represent the electrical discipline during Client meetings.
- Present electrical design concepts and recommendations.
- Respond to Client technical comments.
- Coordinate with Client technical teams.
- Attend authority and stakeholder meetings.
- Support the Project Manager in resolving electrical-related stakeholder issues.
- Provide clear technical recommendations where multiple solutions are available.
- Tender and Construction Support
When included within project scope:
- Respond to bidder technical queries.
- Review electrical technical submissions.
- Assist with tender technical evaluations.
- Review of contractor design proposals.
- Review material and equipment submissions.
- Review shop drawings.
- Respond to RFIs.
- Support technical resolution of site issues.
- Participate in design-change reviews.
- Review proposed substitutions and value-engineering proposals.
- Support testing and commissioning teams when required.
- Value Engineering and Innovation
- Identify opportunities to optimize electrical systems.
- Evaluate alternative design solutions considering CAPEX, OPEX, maintainability and reliability.
- Promote energy-efficient electrical solutions.
- Support sustainability and low-carbon objectives.
- Encourage appropriate use of digital engineering tools.
- Support standardization of electrical designs across projects.
QualificationsEssential
- * Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized university.
- 12–15 years of relevant electrical design experience.
- Strong experience in both building and infrastructure electrical design.
- Demonstrable experience leading electrical engineering teams.
- Significant experience with multidisciplinary engineering consultancy or design organizations.
- Experience with Saudi Arabian projects is strongly preferred.
Professional Registration
- * Valid or eligible professional registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers.
Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer or equivalent international professional registration is advantageous.
