Role Description The Laboratory Doctor is a full-time, on-site role based in Doha, Qatar, responsible for overseeing and performing diagnostic laboratory testing to support clinical care. Typical day-to-day tasks include interpreting laboratory results, validating test outcomes, and communicating findings to physicians and other healthcare professionals. The role involves supervising laboratory workflows, ensuring proper sample collection and handling, and monitoring adherence to safety and quality standards. The Laboratory Doctor participates in the selection and evaluation of laboratory equipment and methods, assists in troubleshooting technical issues, and contributes to the development and implementation of laboratory protocols. The position also includes training and guiding laboratory staff, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, and participating in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in clinical laboratory medicine, including hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, and immunology.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex laboratory data and provide clear, clinically relevant reports.
- Experience with laboratory quality control, quality assurance processes, and adherence to safety standards.
- Competence in the use and oversight of laboratory equipment, instruments, and diagnostic technologies.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and explaining results to clinical staff.
- Proven organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple tests and workflows in a high-volume environment.
- Medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization or training in laboratory medicine or pathology; relevant licensure or eligibility to practice in Qatar.
- Prior experience working in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting; experience in GCC or similar healthcare systems is an advantage.
