We have partnered with a leading technology group with a global footprint to hire a Head of Platform Engineering. The Group runs technology across multiple sectors and geographies, and this person will own the platform that sits underneath all of it. You will build the foundations that let engineering teams across the business ship faster, safer and at lower cost. This is a rare chance to set the platform strategy for a business of this scale from a position of real authority.
This role suits a hands-on platform leader who has built internal developer platforms before, treats engineers as customers and can show the reliability and cost numbers to prove it.
About the role:
- Own the platform engineering strategy across the Group, covering cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, CI/CD, observability and reliability
- Build and run an internal developer platform with standardised paths that cut delivery time across business units
- Lead SRE and platform teams, setting reliability targets, incident practices and engineering standards
- Drive multi-cloud architecture, security by design and FinOps discipline across all environments
- Partner with technology and business leaders to align platform investment with Group priorities
- Hire, develop and retain a high-calibre platform organisation
About you:
- 10+ years in infrastructure, cloud or platform engineering, with at least 3 years leading teams at scale
- Proven track record building and running internal developer platforms in a large, complex environment
- Deep hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD and cloud-native architecture on AWS, Azure or GCP
- Strong SRE and observability background, with clear experience owning reliability and cost outcomes
- Experience in a multi-business-unit group, enterprise or high-growth environment
- Credible with CTOs and business leaders as well as engineers
