ABOUT WAFIR
Wafir is a Qatar-based fintech digitising the traditional jam'iya (rotating savings circle). We operate within the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) FinTech Regulatory Sandbox and offer a Shariah-compliant way for people to save together.
THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced credit professional to own how Wafir assesses customers, sets limits and recovers missed payments. You will start by reviewing and strengthening our credit assessment procedures, then lead credit and collections day to day.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
First 4 months: review and strengthen
- Review our full customer assessment process: salary verification, affordability, limit tiers and internal scoring model
- Test it against real payment and data
- Write the Credit Policy and risk appetite Ongoing: run credit and collections
- Approve customer limits, exceptions and high-risk cases
- Supervise and review the work of the Risk & Onboarding Officer
- Monitor payments, overdue amounts and credit exposure across active circles
- Own the payment lifecycle and lead collections on escalated cases
- Ensure credit, onboarding and collections activities comply with internal policies and QCB regulations
- Develop and update SOPs for credit, onboarding and collections when required
- Track and close audit and compliance findings related to credit
- Produce monthly credit risk reports and provide figures for regulatory reporting
WHAT YOU BRING
- 5–10 years in retail or consumer credit at a bank or finance company in Qatar or the GCC
- Hands-on experience building or validating credit scoring models
- Strong salary-based affordability and debt-burden analysis
- Working knowledge of credit bureau data (Qatar Credit Bureau preferred)
- Collections experience: delinquency stages, payment plans, recoveries
- Strong analytical skills in Excel; comfortable working with raw data
- Professional in English, Arabic preferable to have
- Hands-on attitude and comfort working in a small, fast-moving team
NICE TO HAVE
- Consumer finance, microfinance or fintech experience
- Familiarity with QCB regulations and Shariah-compliant products
- SQL or BI tools
- Experience managing an analyst or officer EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting or a related field. Credit or risk certification is an advantage.
