For the Global Business Project Organization (BPO) department, DHL Express is looking for a motivated and results-oriented colleague who can support the development and administration of processes, tools and techniques within deployment projects that are included in the BPO roadmap, working closely with project managers.
About BPOOur Global Business Project Organization (BPO) team has a global scope and is divided into two pools of people: Project Management, and Business Analysts. Globally our team has approximately 100 members, based in 3 locations being Maastricht, Kuala Lumpur and Costa Rica. Our Project Manager and Business Analyst teams focus on deploying various systems, processes and tools across the Express Finance Organization, with several projects now touching other functions such as Operations, Pricing and Sales.
Working within BPO is quite challenging as we are active within multiple functional areas within the DHL Express organization and strongly focused on digitalization and automation (data science, robotics). How will you contribute to the success of DHL?
As a Project Manager you are responsible for managing a project team to deliver (a) project(s) that span across one or more functions. You manage resources, schedules, and financials and adhere to stage gate quality and control guidelines throughout the full project life cycle. This also includes management of issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. You contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery. In this role you have the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis. Verify that the project produces the required deliverables of quality, within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case.
- Draft project plans to deliver projects to achieve required quality standard, on time and on budget
- Execute project management plans and processes for successful execution of projects
- Instruct and review the output of functional project team or individual colleagues
- Report deviations on project expenditure to adhere to defined project budget
- Track project milestones, report and update progress and performance against the project plan
- Recognize and resolve operational problems and minimize delays in the delivery of projects
- Execute project risk mitigation action plans to minimize projects risks
- Responsible for overall project benefit alignment, realization and establishing tracking mechanism
- Understand business processes, identify opportunities/ solutions and prioritize projects according to relevant measurement criteria
- Act as a liaison between different project stakeholders
- Pro-actively seeks stakeholder feedback while challenging business leaders and business decisions and questions assumptions
- Present project plan and status updates to the Project Board / Steering Committee for consensus and decision making
- Determine project resources, conduct performance reviews and post implementation evaluations
- Keeps up to date on (technical) developments in own field through literature, conferences and roundtables, and industry competition
Do you have what it takes?
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree, ideally in a related field (such as Finance, IT or business)
- Finance process knowledge (e.g. in RTR, OTC, PTP, Cost Accounting)
- Project / Program management certification (e.g. PRINCE2)
- Analytical skills and capacity for conceptual thinking, able to think and act with cross-organizational and cross-process approach
- Minimum of 4 years working experience in project management capacity, demonstrating good record of project management success, both in results achieved and in use of a professional methodology
- Has current awareness of external trends and best practice
- Beneficial to have a digital mindset with experience in automated Project Management solutions
