The General Practitioner - Family Medicine is responsible for delivering comprehensive, evidence-based primary healthcare to patients across different age groups. The role focuses on diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, providing preventive care, promoting healthy lifestyles, and coordinating referrals to ensure continuity of care. The successful candidate will practise within granted clinical privileges while maintaining M42’s standards for patient safety, clinical quality, regulatory compliance, and person-centred care.
Responsibilities
- * Provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients across different age groups.
- Assess, diagnose, and manage common acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Develop and monitor individualized treatment plans for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and cardiovascular disease.
- Conduct routine medical examinations, health assessments, preventive screenings, and wellness checks.
- Provide vaccinations, health education, lifestyle counselling, and disease-prevention guidance.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic investigations.
- Perform minor medical procedures within the scope of granted clinical privileges.
- Identify cases requiring specialist intervention and coordinate appropriate referrals.
- Provide urgent and non-urgent medical care in accordance with established clinical protocols.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient documentation.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Comply with M42 policies, clinical governance requirements, patient safety standards, infection prevention measures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality-improvement initiatives, departmental meetings, and continuing professional development activities.
Qualifications
- * Medical degree such as Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Doctor of Medicine, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Completion of the required internship and clinical training.
- Valid General Practitioner licence from the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Relevant experience in Family Medicine, primary healthcare, outpatient care, or a comparable clinical setting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage acute illnesses, chronic diseases, preventive care, and general medical presentations.
- Current Basic Life Support certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification is preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and decision-making capabilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
