Role Purpose
The Executive Director – Procurement & Supply Chain is a senior executive leadership role accountable for shaping and delivering the organisation’s enterprise-wide procurement and supply chain strategy.
The role provides strategic direction across procurement, strategic sourcing, commercial contracting, supplier management and supply chain resilience, ensuring the function enables operational excellence, sustainable commercial value and long-term organisational objectives.
As a key advisor to executive leadership, the role influences major commercial and investment decisions, strengthens governance and leads the continued transformation of a high-performing, digitally enabled procurement and supply chain function.
Key Accountabilities
- Define and execute the enterprise procurement and supply chain strategy, aligned with corporate priorities and long-term objectives.
- Advise executive leadership on major commercial, sourcing, contracting and supply chain decisions.
- Provide executive oversight of significant procurement portfolios, strategic contracts and critical supplier relationships.
- Shape strategic sourcing, category management and supplier strategies, leveraging market intelligence to deliver sustainable value.
- Lead major commercial negotiations and establish strategic partnerships with key suppliers and service providers.
- Drive enterprise-wide value creation, cost optimisation and demand management, balancing commercial outcomes with operational requirements.
- Strengthen supply chain resilience, proactively managing supplier, market, geopolitical and operational risks.
- Establish robust procurement and contracting governance, ensuring transparency, accountability and effective commercial risk management.
- Lead the digital transformation of procurement and supply chain, leveraging technology, automation, analytics and AI.
- Establish executive-level performance measures covering commercial value, supplier performance, risk, efficiency and service delivery.
- Partner with senior business leaders to anticipate future requirements and ensure supply chain capabilities support organisational growth and operational continuity.
- Represent the function across executive committees, governance forums and strategic supplier engagements.
- Build and lead a high-performing leadership team, strengthening capability, succession and future talent pipelines.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification preferred.
- Professional qualification such as CIPS is advantageous.
- Extensive senior leadership experience across Procurement, Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing or Commercial Management within a large and complex organisation.
- Proven accountability for significant procurement portfolios, major commercial agreements and strategic supplier ecosystems.
- Strong track record of delivering commercial value, cost optimisation and enterprise-level transformation.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex negotiations and managing strategic supplier relationships.
- Strong understanding of procurement governance, commercial risk and supply chain resilience.
- Experience within aviation, transport, infrastructure or another operationally critical environment is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and engage effectively at C-suite and senior stakeholder level.
