Job Purpose:
Responsible for planning, organizing, managing and coordinating all aspects of the facility’s management including civil, mechanical, electrical and biomedical engineering. Also responsible for working with SSMC and other governing bodies to ensure compliance with approved policies, procedures and JCIA standards as well as statutory and contractual requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provides leadership for the facilities management; monitoring and evaluating departmental activities to ensure effective implementation
- Participates in the development, communication and evaluation of departmental standards, procedures and protocols
- Coordinates with the appropriate departments to ensure timely processing of all requirements
- Performs routine and periodic evaluation of electrical, mechanical, civil and biomedical systems to ensure proper levels of operation and redundancy
- Coordinates and support the department in the selection and monitoring of outside vendors of products and services as required
- Manages and operates in a fiscally responsible manner, safeguarding the assets of the facility, SSMC and the government
- Prepares the operating and capital budgets for the facility in line with the current and future needs for the assigned area of responsibility
- Ensures that the department/section operates within the annual departmental/sectional budget
- Monitors the operating expenses of the facility in a way to reduce waste and improve efficiency
- Ensures appropriate documentation for work orders, purchase orders and project management
- Manages and oversees all maintenance contracts for all areas of the facility and ensures that proper documentation is maintained
- Oversees and reviews drawings and specifications submitted for renovation/ construction and provides inputs in the selection of the building design, operating systems and equipment
- Establishes procedures for material procurement and spare parts inventories according to crucial repair and replacement needs
- Assists in the development, expansion and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems throughout the physical plant including - drawings, manuals and parts list for buildings and their installed equipment
- Approves the requirements for the entire facility
- Ensures appropriate documentation is maintained related to preventative maintenance
- Ensures that all equipment requiring preventive maintenance is included in the program
Accountabilities
- Manages and is responsible for smooth office operations
- Ensures oversight of the program through monitoring, reporting, and quality assurance activities
- Manages Campus Expansion Program budget, schedule and scope
Education, Certifications, and Professional Experience
Educational Qualification:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering or in a relevant technical discipline OR Diploma in relevant field with 3 years of additional experience
Desired:
- Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering or in a relevant technical discipline
Specialist Certifications:
- Recognised project management certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent
Experience:
- Required:8 -10 years of relevant experience in a similar industry of which minimum 5 years of progressive leadership responsibility in a large organization
