ABOUT WAFIR
Wafir is a Qatar-based fintech digitising the traditional jam'iya (rotating savings circle). We operate within the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) FinTech Regulatory Sandbox and offer a Shariah-compliant way for people to save together.
THE ROLE
We are looking for a Credit & Onboarding Officer to review new customers, assess their affordability and support the collection of missed payments. You will work alongside our Risk & Onboarding Officer and report to the Credit Risk & Collections Lead.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Customer onboarding and review
- Review customer applications and identity documents (QID, salary certificates, national address)
- Verify salary and monthly commitments, and assess affordability against Wafir's credit policy
- Recommend approved limits and tiers for review and approval by the Credit Risk & Collections Lead
- Prepare files for exception and borderline cases
- Escalate any suspicious activity to the Compliance team Monitoring and collections
- Monitor member payments across active circles and flag early warning signs
- Contact members with overdue payments and agree payment plans within policy
- Track cases through each stage of the payment lifecycle and keep records up to date
- Coordinate with the Customer Success team on payment reminders Reporting and procedures
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready customer and credit records
- Prepare data for monthly credit and collections reports
- Follow onboarding, credit and collections SOPs and suggest improvements
WHAT YOU BRING
- 3–5 years in credit analysis, KYC/onboarding or collections at a bank, finance company or fintech in Qatar or the GCC
- Experience with salary-based affordability or debt-burden assessment
- Familiarity with KYC/CDD and credit bureau data
- Strong attention to detail and comfort reviewing documents at volume
- Good Excel skills
- Professional english speaker, and preferably arabic too.
- Clear, respectful communication with customers, including on difficult payment conversations
NICE TO HAVE
- Consumer finance, microfinance or fintech experience
- Knowledge of QCB regulations
- Collections or contact-centre experience
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics or business administration.
