Amaken is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant for a large food manufacturing company based in Mali, West Africa.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of costing methods, cost control, and the ability to calculate and analyze costs as a percentage of revenue to support budgeting, profitability analysis, and business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
• Calculate, monitor, and analyze production, operational, and other business costs.
• Calculate and analyze cost as a percentage of revenue to assess profitability and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Monitor cost variations and investigate differences between actual costs and budgeted costs.
• Prepare cost reports and assist in analyzing financial performance and profit margins.
• Track direct and indirect costs, including materials, labor, and overhead expenses.
• Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and cost estimates.
• Analyze cost trends and highlight areas for improvement.
• Maintain accurate cost records and ensure proper allocation of expenses.
• Coordinate with the accounting, finance, and operations teams to collect and validate cost data.
• Support month-end closing and the preparation of financial reports.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in cost accounting or a similar role.
• Practical experience in costing, cost analysis, and cost control.
• Strong understanding of cost as a percentage of revenue and profitability analysis.
• Good knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and expense allocation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems or ERP software.
• Proficiency in English. French is a plus.
