Job Purpose
The Corporate Accountant – Reporting & Compliance supports financial reporting, management accounting, treasury activities, and regulatory compliance across GEM and its SPVs. The role ensures accurate financial data, disciplined liquidity management, and audit‑ready documentation for VAT, corporate tax, ESR, and Free Zone compliance. It also maintains well‑controlled corporate records and supports governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Management Accounting
- Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts and reporting packs.
- Perform month‑end close, journals, accruals, prepayments, and recurring entries.
- Conduct variance analysis and maintain KPIs.
- Consolidate financial data across GEM and SPVs.
- Support external audits and statutory financial statement preparation.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Update daily bank balances and monitor liquidity.
- Ensure funding availability for OPEX, loan repayments, and commitments.
- Execute intercompany transfers and cash allocations.
- Review bank and CTM reconciliations.
- Support FD placements and corporate credit card administration.
- Prepare weekly/monthly cashflow forecasts and assist with payment processing.
Regulatory Compliance (VAT, Corporate Tax, ESR, QFZP)
- Verify VAT treatment and assist with VAT return preparation.
- Maintain documentation for corporate tax, ESR, and QFZP status.
- Maintain CIGA and Outsourcing/Supervision evidence files.
- Track regulatory updates and assess compliance impact.
Document Control & Corporate Records
- Maintain centralized document control for corporate, contractual, and regulatory records.
- Manage licence renewals and maintain a master tracker.
- Maintain contract registers and corporate governance records.
- Conduct periodic audits of filing systems and registers.
Banking, KYC & Correspondence
- Liaise with banks on KYC, account maintenance, and treasury matters.
- Conduct KYC checks and risk assessments.
- Maintain organized, audit‑ready banking and regulatory correspondence.
Reporting, Advisory & Confidentiality
- Maintain treasury dashboards and compliance reports.
- Act as a point of contact for auditors, regulators, financiers, and advisors.
- Provide guidance on VAT, tax, and documentation requirements.
- Ensure secure handling and storage of sensitive information.
Ad Hoc Duties
- Support additional tasks and projects as assigned.
Operating Environment
Works within a multi‑entity maritime environment requiring strict adherence to internal controls, Free Zone rules, UAE tax regulations, and audit standards.
Working Relationships
- Daily coordination with Finance, Chartering, Procurement, and vessel management teams.
- Regular interaction with auditors, regulators, banks, clients, and suppliers.
- Supports senior management on compliance and reporting matters.
Problem Solving & Decision-Making
- Identifies compliance and documentation risks early and proposes corrective actions.
- Executes treasury transactions within approved limits.
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness of financial and compliance data.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or Law.
- Professional certification is an added advantage
- 5–6 years’ experience in accounting, treasury, or compliance roles.
- Strong management accounting and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, document management tools, and MS Office.
- High accuracy, analytical mindset, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, multi‑entity environment.
- Knowledge of shipping operations and UAE Free Zone/tax regulations is an advantage.
