Hays are excited to be partnering with a leading regional financial institution to appoint a Commodities Trader (Director level) for its expanding Global Markets business in Dubai.
This is a high-impact opportunity focused on trading commodity derivatives across energy and metals markets. The successful candidate will play a key role in generating proprietary and client-driven revenues, managing risk across complex commodities products, and contributing to the continued growth of a developing commodities franchise. The position offers significant autonomy, exposure to senior stakeholders, and the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow a commodities trading portfolio across energy and metals markets
- Trade commodity derivatives including futures, swaps, options and structured products
- Generate proprietary and client-driven P&L through effective risk management and market positioning
- Price, structure and execute derivative transactions tailored to client requirements
- Manage market risk, volatility exposure and non-linear products across the trading book
- Develop and maintain relationships with institutional clients, corporate counterparties and internal stakeholders
- Work closely with sales, structuring, risk and treasury teams to deliver innovative commodity solutions
- Identify new market opportunities, revenue streams and product initiatives
- Monitor global commodity markets, macroeconomic developments and geopolitical events impacting trading activity
- Contribute to the expansion and development of the wider commodities platform
Key Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience within commodities trading, with a strong preference for energy, gas, oil, metals or commodity derivatives markets
- Demonstrated experience managing risk and P&L within a trading environment
- Strong understanding of commodity derivatives, including futures, swaps and options
- Experience within a bank, commodity trading house, energy trading platform or financial markets institution
- Exposure to structured transactions, volatility products or non-linear risk management would be advantageous
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to identify and execute profitable trading opportunities
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively with clients and internal stakeholders across multiple functions
- Experience using trading, risk management and market analytics platforms
- Python or other quantitative programming experience would be viewed favourably
