We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly knowledgeable Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) to lead the organization’s overall privacy, data protection, and information governance strategy.
The CPO will be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive privacy framework, ensuring compliance with applicable data protection and privacy regulations, managing privacy risks, and promoting a strong culture of responsible data use across the organization.
The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in privacy governance, regulatory compliance, data protection, risk management, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to work closely with senior leadership, Legal, IT, Security, Compliance, and business teams.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
• Develop and lead the organization’s overall privacy and data protection strategy.
• Establish and maintain comprehensive privacy policies, standards, procedures, and governance frameworks.
• Ensure organizational compliance with applicable data protection, privacy, and information governance requirements.
• Monitor changes in privacy laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and industry standards and assess their potential impact on the organization.
• Lead privacy risk assessments, data protection impact assessments, and privacy compliance reviews.
• Establish appropriate controls to identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor privacy-related risks.
• Provide strategic advice to senior management and business leaders on privacy, data protection, and responsible data use.
• Oversee the organization’s data collection, processing, storage, sharing, retention, and disposal practices from a privacy perspective.
• Work closely with Legal, IT, Cybersecurity, Compliance, HR, Marketing, Product, and Operations teams to embed privacy principles into business processes.
• Develop and oversee privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default practices for new products, services, systems, and business initiatives.
• Establish procedures for responding to privacy incidents, data breaches, regulatory inquiries, and other privacy-related events.
• Lead or support investigations into privacy incidents and coordinate appropriate remediation and notification processes where required.
• Oversee third-party and vendor privacy risk assessments and ensure appropriate contractual and privacy safeguards are implemented.
• Develop and manage employee privacy awareness, training, and education programs.
• Establish appropriate mechanisms for handling data subject requests, complaints, inquiries, and privacy-related concerns.
• Maintain appropriate documentation, records, assessments, and evidence of privacy compliance activities.
• Work with internal and external auditors, regulators, legal counsel, and other relevant stakeholders on privacy matters.
• Develop privacy metrics, dashboards, and reports to monitor the effectiveness of the organization’s privacy program.
• Continuously review and improve privacy governance, processes, controls, and organizational practices.
• Promote a strong culture of privacy, accountability, transparency, and responsible data management throughout the organization.
• Provide regular privacy risk updates, strategic recommendations, and compliance reports to the CEO, Board of Directors, or relevant governance committees.
✅ Requirements
• Proven experience in a Chief Privacy Officer, Data Protection Officer, Privacy Director, Privacy Counsel, Compliance Director, or equivalent senior leadership role.
• Extensive experience in privacy governance, data protection, regulatory compliance, and privacy risk management.
• Strong understanding of applicable data protection and privacy laws, regulations, and regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement enterprise-wide privacy programs and governance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, privacy controls, data governance, and information risk.
• Experience conducting privacy impact assessments, risk assessments, compliance reviews, and privacy audits.
• Strong understanding of data breach response, incident management, and privacy remediation processes.
• Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively with senior executives, Board members, regulators, legal professionals, technology teams, and business leaders.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive information.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, independence, and ethical judgment.
• Ability to translate complex privacy and regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Privacy, Data Protection, Information Management, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Master’s degree, legal qualification, or relevant professional certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent will be an advantage.
• Experience in technology, financial services, healthcare, e-commerce, telecommunications, or other data-intensive industries is highly advantageous.
