Assistant Land Surveyor – Railway Project
Job Purpose
We are seeking an Assistant Land Surveyor to support surveying and setting-out activities for a major railway infrastructure project. The role will assist the Land Surveyor in ensuring accurate alignment, levels, coordinates and measurements for railway and associated civil works.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Land Surveyor in setting-out and surveying activities for railway and civil works.
- Assist with railway alignment, chainage, levels, coordinates and formation works.
- Support surveying activities for track works, earthworks, roads, drainage, structures, bridges and utilities.
- Operate and assist with Total Station, GPS/GNSS, Auto Level and other surveying equipment.
- Establish and check benchmarks, control points and reference coordinates under the direction of the Land Surveyor.
- Assist in carrying out topographical and as-built surveys.
- Take accurate field measurements and maintain survey records and field books.
- Assist in checking construction works against approved IFC drawings and survey coordinates.
- Coordinate with Site Engineers, Land Surveyors and construction teams to ensure accurate setting-out.
- Report any discrepancies in levels, coordinates, alignment or dimensions to the Senior Surveyor.
- Ensure surveying equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
- Follow all project HSE, quality and surveying procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant surveying experience, preferably on railway, metro or major infrastructure projects.
- Experience in construction surveying and setting-out is required.
- Railway/Metro experience is highly preferred.
- Basic to good knowledge of Total Station, GPS/GNSS and Auto Level.
- Ability to read and understand survey, civil and alignment drawings.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Candidates available to join immediately or within a short notice period are preferred.
