The Asphalt Road Roller Operator is responsible for operating road roller equipment to compact asphalt, soil, gravel, and other construction materials during road construction and maintenance projects. The role ensures that compaction work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt road roller machinery for the compaction of asphalt surfaces and base materials
- Perform rolling activities according to project requirements and site instructions
- Ensure proper compaction levels are achieved to meet engineering and quality standards
- Conduct pre-start and daily inspections of equipment and report any defects or maintenance requirements
- Monitor roller performance and ensure safe operation at all times
- Coordinate with paving crews, supervisors, and other equipment operators to maintain smooth workflow
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and daily activities when required
- Follow traffic management plans and site safety procedures
- Keep equipment clean and in good working condition
- Assist with other site duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications & Requirements
- * High school education or equivalent preferred
- Valid heavy vehicle or equipment operator license, where required
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating asphalt road rollers in road construction projects
- Good understanding of asphalt paving and compaction techniques
- Ability to read and understand site instructions and safety procedures
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting
- Physically fit and able to work in outdoor conditions
