SUMMARY OF THE JOB
The Area Compliance Officer (ACO) supports the Regional Compliance Officer (RCO) in working with the country general counsels (or other managers to whom compliance responsibilities in the country have been assigned) to implement the Holcim compliance program in the area of his or her responsibility. The ACO advises these country organizations on compliance processes and procedures and supports local management in driving and promoting the Code of Ethics and a speak-up culture within their organizations.
The area of responsibility includes Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Benin, and/or any other country in Holcim’s AMEA Region as determined by the RCO.
MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Describe the main activities of the job indicating the degree of responsibility and autonomy. Use an action verb to highlight its value added. Include activities related to Health & Safety, people leadership, participation in committees etc.
- Advises and supports the country organizations in setting up and completing the annual compliance plans and the annual compliance risk assessments.
- Provides compliance-related advice to the country organizations and develops stakeholder relationships with the country organizations. The ACO acts cross-functionally and enables local management teams to better understand compliance risk exposure areas, remediate Internal Audit findings and improve Internal Controls.
- Supports and advises country organizations regarding new or revised compliance-related policies, directives and guidance, including their local implementation, ensuring appropriate and necessary modifications based on local laws and regulations.
- Monitors effective implementation of compliance-related processes and procedures (e.g. third-party due diligence) within country organizations and supports reporting of relevant metrics and performance indicators by these countries.
- Trains the trainer or delivers compliance training in line with the Group’s compliance training program.
- Supports country organizations to promote a speak-up culture and in the recording, management, investigation and remediation of reported breaches of the Code of Ethics.
- Maintains a solid understanding of relevant applicable local laws and regulations. Supports country organizations in any interactions with local authorities or regulators regarding compliance matters as required.

PROFILE REQUIRED
Level of education/qualifications normally required:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in law
Specific work experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of in-house working experience in multinational companies or law firms.
- Minimum of 3 years of strong compliance focus (particularly in the areas of anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, trade sanctions).
- Ideally experience with compliance management systems and corporate investigations in any strongly regulated / enforcement jurisdiction.
Technical / functional skills:
- Proven track record of working successfully in an international environment. Practical Compliance experience would be a plus
- Excellent with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proven experience implementing or monitoring AI-driven compliance tools and solutions.
- Capable of providing meaningful input to management, M&A and project teams in terms of compliance assessment and diligence requirements
- Solid business and financial acumen
- Strong organizational and presentation skills
